Operations Supervisor

National Express is looking for an Operations Supervisor to join our Bournemouth team, someone who thrives in fast paced environments, loves solving problems on the move, and takes real pride in keeping services running safely and efficiently.

If you are calm under pressure, great with people and confident in making decisions that keep our drivers, customers and services moving, this role puts you right at the heart of our daily operation.

This role is based in Bournemouth, with flexibility to support other locations when needed. This is on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern working 17:00pm - 05:00am 

What you will do

• Make sure every driver is safe, fit for duty and supported throughout their shift.
• Oversee driver performance and ensure standards are consistently met.
• Allocate and manage driving duties on the day, keeping services running smoothly.
• Monitor service efficiency, respond to issues and manage dispatch and return of vehicles.
• Operate and update depot systems, including defect forms and control logs.
• Handle customer queries, complaints and lost property with professionalism and care.
• Keep accurate records of overtime, absence and sickness.
• Issue key driver communications and keep noticeboards up to date.
• Work with the Training Team to identify and support driver development needs.
• Produce reports, maintain statistics and support operational monitoring.
• Step in for driving duties when required.
• Manage service disruptions, set diversions and log all communications with external partners.
• Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards across the depot.

What you will bring

• Strong understanding of EU Drivers Hours
• A PCV licence.
• Knowledge of the local bus and highway network.
• First Aid or Fire Warden training is advantageous but not essential.
• Great communication skills and confidence working with drivers, engineers, managers and external services.
• Ability to stay organised, make decisions quickly and manage multiple priorities.
